Brushes are my favorite thing to work with while using cosmetics. I think they give a beautiful blended finish to the look. They also give the user complete control and are better suited for precise applications. If you ever get a chance to work with me, you will see I have a brush belt full of brushes that are used for specific areas of the face.
Most often, when it comes to brushes, I am asked how to wash them. This is really important since you should really be washing them once a week. Bacteria and a buildup of product on the bristles can lead to acne breakouts and other types of infection.

I like to use organic castle soap with Tea Tree essential oil to wash my brushes in. My personal favorite would be by Dr. Woods. It is called Pure Tea Tree Castile Soap with Organic Shea Butter. If you go to http://www.iherb.com?rcode=GOT141, you will find it by searching it out in the search bar. If you are new to iHerb, you can use the coupon code GOT141 for up to $10.00 off your first order.
I use the soap with Tea Tree oil in it because the oil is a natural disinfectant and I love how it smells. It has a fresh clean scent. To find out more about Tea Tree oil click on the link to go to Dr. Mercola's web site.
Make sure when you are washing your brushes, avoid directly running water into the brush where the handle meets the head. The glue at the base could eventually loosen up and that would be a brush disaster waiting to happen. I like to lather and swirl the brush in the palm of my hand while running water over my hand/bristles. When the brush looks clean and you no longer see any product being washed away from the brush, you are done! Lay the brush flat on a towel to dry.
