Why people should stay away from Sodium Laurel Sulfite.

The reason why people should stay away from Sodium Laurel Sulfite(SLS) besides it being toxic is; (see ewg.org) it can contribute to skin break outs, over production of oil on the skin, lead to dryness, acne, and can disrupt the normal pH balance of your skin. The synthetic chemical actually changes the way the foundation behaves. It oxidizes (makes the foundation darker) within about an hour on the person’s face.
You will find it mostly in soaps. But it's not limited to soaps. It is primarily used as a cheap inexpensive foaming agent but also commonly seen in the following products; eyeshadow, lipstick, sunscreen, shampoo, laundry detergent, face cleanser, hairspray, etc.

I really like to understand the individual’s skin care routine to help combat the issue. The Virtve foundation is such high quality and so pure that I want to make sure that the person I am working with has a good skin care routine. If you are doing one and not the other, it does not make sense. I find that happens in about 1 out of 5 people I work with. If you need help with a good skin care routine, please let me know. I would love to work with you on this issue.
I think it’s important to eliminate or minimize synthetic chemicals from as many places as possible. Your makeup/skincare is one of the best places to start.
From EWG.ORG:
Other HIGH concerns: Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs);
Other MODERATE concerns: Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive);
Other LOW concerns: Ecotoxicology
